Sports Injuries:Classification, Causes and Prevention.

We know that the sports Injuries are common in field of Games and Sports, During our practice session, our training session or a competition too. 
                               So Today we are discussing on same Point "Sports Injuries"
And What is the causes and it's Prevention. 

Sports Injuries
Sports Injuries are Common in the field of game and sports. During practice, training or competition, any player can be injured. Meanwhile there is no player who has not been injured during his Sports career, Indeed, it is natural to get injured. 

According to Leonardo Da Vinci also averred "If you are enamoured of practice without Scientific knowledge, you are just like a Pilot who goes into a ship without rudder and a compass and does not know his destination."

It has been observed minutely that single type of injury does not occur in all the Games and sports. Indeed some sports Injuries can be prevented if some changes are made in the rules of game and sports. 

Classification of sports Injuries
Sports Injuries can be classified in the following ways. 
1. Soft tissue Injuries
2. Bone Injuries
3. Joint Injuries

1. Soft tissue Injuries
There are following types of soft tissue Injuries. 
1. Contusion
2. Strain
3. Sprain
4. Abrasion
5. Bruises

1. Contusion
Contusion is a muscle injury. A direct hit with or without any sports equipment can be the main cause of contasion. Contusion can also be due to minor accidents to the skin such as falling, bumping into something or being hit or kicked. Contusion is common in boxing wrestling and Kabaddi. In contusion blood vessel in the muscles are broken and sometimes bleeding may occur in the muscles which may cause bruise. 

Prevention
1. Proper Warm-up is needed before your practice, training and competition. All the parts of body should be exercised properly. Stretching exercise should be performed during Warm UP. 
2. Conditioning should be emphasised during the preparatory period. 
3. Protective equipment should be used according to the requirement of your Games and sports. 
4. Sports equipment of good Quality should be used in Games and sports. 
5. Playfields and courts should be smooth and clean. 

2. Strain 
Strain is also a muscles Injury. Strain can be mild as well as severe. Sometimes the complete rupture it is not possible to move that part or limb there may be severe pain around the rupture. Strain may occur at any time during the practice or competition. As a matter of fact strain is caused by twisting or pulling a muscle or tendon. 

Prevention
1. Conditioning should be done during the preparatory period. 
2. Sports equipment Must be good Quality. 
3. Playfields or courts should be smooth or clear.
4. The Scientific knowledge of the game is Must for preventing strain. 
5. Players should discontinue to play during the state of fatigue. 

3. Sprain
It is ligament injury. It may occur due to overstretching or tearing of ligament. Many things can cause sprain. Falling, twisting or getting hit can force a Point out of it's normal position. This can cause ligaments around the joint to tear. Generally, sprain occurs at wrist joint and ankle joint. Sometimes, fracture is also possible along with the sprain. In such injury, swelling, inflammation, severe pain and tenderness are common symptoms. There can be laxity in the ligament, all the above-mentioned symptoms depend on the severity of sprain. 

Prevention
1. Try to run on flat surfaces. 
2. Wear protective equipment when playing. 
3. Wear shoes that fit well. 
4. Try to avoid falling. 
5. Maintain a Healthy Weight. 

4. Abrasion
Abrasion is a Major injury. Abrasion usually occurs due to friction with Certain equipment or a fall over the area where the bone is very close to the skin. It may be caused by falling on a hard surface. When someone falls or slides on the Ground layers of the skin rub off due to to friction. It can occur on basketball court where the surface is slightly rough. Along with this it can occur in Kabaddi, Athletics, hockey, football, etc. It is less severe than laceration and bleeding, if present is minimal. Mild abrasions are known as grazes or scarps. They do not bleed but deep abrasions may lead to bleeding. 

Prevention
1. Sports equipment should be of good Quality. 
2. Players should be careful and alert during practice and competition. 
3. Player should follow the rules and Regulation of the game and sport. 
4. Don't push your body beyond your current fitness level. 
5. Learn the correct techniques before taking part in Sports. 

5.Bruises
Sometimes, Injuries like bruises may occur in Football, Hockey, and Boxing. Bruises are not clearly seen because the upper skin remains unaffected but inner tissue is damaged. In fact the blood spreads under the skin because of ruptured blood vessels. As a matter of fact, blood from damaged blood vessels beneath the skin collects near the surface of the skin, resulting in a black and blue mark. 

Prevention
1. Players should use protective equipment. 
2. Players should not continue to play during fatigue. 
3. Play fields and courts should be smooth and clean. 
4. Players should have good anticipation power. 
5. Players should obey the rules and Regulation of the game Properly.
